Sunday Picks

Bored on a Sunday? Having that feeling of having seen everything, and you have nothing to watch? Here are three films you may not have seen before, and are some of my personal favorites. I have chosen to stay within the genre of satire for this list, I don’t know why.

I hope this list helps someone out there find something exciting to watch, and if you have any suggestions for me, please leave them in the comments. I always enjoy adding things to “The List”.

1. State and Main

I really like a good satire on Hollywood, and filmmaking in general, and this film does that sub-genre more than justice. From the very first scene to the last one it hits the film industry right on the nose. The acting is amazing, and you wouldn’t expect any less with a cast line-up like this one has.

2. Destiny Turns on the Radio (1995)

This quirky satire tells the story of Johnny Destiny, who escapes from prison and drives to Las Vegas to take care of some unfinished business.Honestly it surprises me this film is so little known. It is funny, well written, has great acting, and definitely one of my favorite films.

3. Hurlyburly

Another satire on this list, this time on the life of Hollywood producers. While both Sean Pean and Kevin Spacey give awesome performances in this film, for me it is the Phil Character, portrayed by Chazz Palminteri that hits it home.I love this film for its dialogue alone!
